Meet the Teacher night, Open House, Orientation.... One of the most exciting nights of the year! I get so eager to meet my kiddos and parents every year. I also want everything to look extra special for this night. This year, we had an orientation before school started. The students and parents became familiar with the new building and had an opportunity to meet the teacher before the first day. Our Open House took place this past Wednesday, almost a month after school started.  Here's how I made these nights extra special (tons of FREEBIES!):

I purchased .15 cent folders at Walmart to insert all of the important documents. One one side I added the documents to keep at home. The other side consisted of the documents that needed to be signed and returned.

I got this wonderful idea from one of my coworkers. Magnets!! So easy to make. I designed a small business card on Powerpoint and purchased a roll of magnetic tape on Amazon. (Like 7 bucks for a huge roll) 

The parents can paste these on their fridge for easy access and even easier communication. :D

 (I do not include my personal number. I learned from my mistakes...)

 My wish list was displayed on these cute little cupcakes I downloaded for FREE from My Cute Clipart . I added textboxes to the images and inserted my wishes.

Sweet Tooth Teaching

I've been dying to share my classroom with you guys! I moved to a new building this year (third grade) and I actually have a decent sized classroom! (I've always had tiny classrooms)

My favorite part of my classroom: The library/reading area! My best friend made the BEAUTIFUL tree for me out of Vinyl after watching the tutorial on KinderCraze's blog! It's PERFECT.

I'm also in love with the word wall, inspired by Simply Creative.

My reading strategy posters are from Amy Groesbeak and the pencil is from the Teacher Wife.

 The lamps are from IKEA. (Still need to buy some lightbulbs!)

Do you work with a basal reading series? Our district adopted Reading Wonders and I absolutely LOVE it! Of course, I tweak many things and I don't JUST use Reading Wonders. I integrate many TPT products and hands-on activities into my reading block. However, I do use the weekly assessments provided by the series. They target the benchmarks of the week and assess students on weekly grammar skills. Last year, I decided to create a binder to keep all of my weekly assessments.

I organize theme selection and grammar assessments by units. This makes it so much easier to locate the assessment every week and run the needed copies. This series does not come with a book of assessments. The assessments are found online. So, instead of having to log on and find them every week, I keep them all handy in this binder! (Plus, it looks super cute! haha)

I place the answer keys behind each unit divider. :) 

You can download these dividers for free HERE. (They're made for Reading Wonders only)

The beautiful digital papers are from Gabb'y Classroom. 

Simply cut the tabs and paste them on each divider. Make sure to measure the distance between each tab so they don't overlap! Once they all look perfectly aligned (This took me a couple of attempts LOL), laminate the entire divider. :)

I painted my white Ikea stools to match my classroom. Absolutely in LOVE with the colors.

You can find these Ikea stools HERE for only $4.99! They're great for the computer station and/or guided reading table. 

Soo excited about this! Last year, I had my students purchase coupons from a coupon catalog using their Dojo Dollars. After choosing from the catalog, the students receive the actual coupon. What was the problem? No organization! I found this box at Ikea for $3.19. It's perfect! I label each coupon in my catalog with a number. (Ex: "Pick a Pencil" is coupon #1) The coupons are labeled in the box and it makes it much easier for me to find the correct one.

Found these BEAUTIFUL containers at Family Dollar and I just had to get them! I promised myself I wouldn't do table caddies this year since they have been a disaster these last two years. Somehow, they always end up on the floor with no supplies inside. -_- I guess we'll see how they workout this year. The labels were a freebie provided by One Sharp Bunch

I found this pack of 3 storage containers at the Dollar Tree & decided to try a little makeover! I spray painted the lids, added some labels, and TA-DA! (They're kind of flimsy so we'll see how long they last.)

and finally, laminated my Motivational Posters to decorate some of the plain walls for the first weeks of school before putting up student work and anchor charts. You can also find these in my TPT store.
