After posting pictures of printed products i've purchased from TPT, i've recieved tons of questions about my printer. So, here goes:

Best. Investment. EVER.


Last year I searched through hundreds of printers to try and find the perfect printer for my teaching needs. 
What is the perfect printer? 
1. One that doesn't waste tons of ink
2. One with CHEAP ink replacement 
3. Produces high quality printables

Printed using Brother MFCJ450DW Wireless with Scanner, Copier and Fax Inkjet Printer

This is the Brother printer I purchased from Amazon. I had never heard of the brand before, but I decided to give it a try. It was about $100 when I originally purchased it last year. Right now, it's $75. #deal


The best part about this printer is that it is compatible with any generic ink brand! This 10 pack is only $18.99 on Amazon! (This is the ink I always buy)



This ink lasts FOREVER! I print EVERYTHING in color because I hate plain looking... (What teacher does?) 
It will say "Low on Ink" for a while, but will still print high quality materials. 

I definitely recommend it. :)

It is Week two of the TPT Seller Challenge

Here are my big TPT dreams
1. I just graduated from grad school and was able to get my masters in reading education. Although it was a wonderful accomplishment, I do owe lots of money in student loans. Having that extra income from TPT would be ideal to help pay off that annoying monthly bill. 

2. Travel, Travel, Travel! My boyfriend and I love exploring new places whenever the opportunity arises. My dream would be to spend my summers off sightseeing, taking pictures, and trying different foods. (Specifically, trying sweets from around the world.)

3. This is only my second year teaching and I LOVE it. I don't think I would step out of the classroom just yet. Working with children has always been my passion and I plan to continue gaining experience in the classroom. However, I dream of being able to educate other teachers by delivering PD's and possibly traveling to meet and work with other educators. TPT has already given me the opportunity of communicating with other teachers through blogging and social media. (I wish I was attending Vegas so I could actually meet them in person.) 

4. In the future, I would love to have the option of working from home. This would allow me to spend time with my children and prepare them for Kindergarten. (I would probably go back to work after they enter Kindergarten. I don't think I can be a stay-at-home mom.)

After reflecting on all of these dreams...
It's time to get to work and make them happen!

This week's TPT Seller Challenge was Makeover Madness.
I decided to makeover two of my older products. Here are the results:

This product has some minor errors in the task cards and the worksheets only contained a couple of problems. I updated the worksheets by adding some more problems and changed the font on the whole bundle. 


This was the first product I ever created and my first ever FREEBIE! It was a hot mess. haha
 For starters, the task cards were HUGE. I changed the style, font, and fixed some minor errors. Additionally, I updated fonts on all of the other resources.

TPT Tip: FONT and CLIPART are essential for an attractive TPT cover. 

Can't wait to see what's in store for next week's challenge!

Finally jumped on the bandwagon and purchased Teaching with Intention by Debbie Miller. What an awesome read!
I've decided to join in on the fun brought by Greg over at The Kindergarten Smorgasbord as we discuss the chapters in this book. 
This week is:
This chapter focuses on the overall classroom environment and organization required for student learning and engagement to take place. Debbie discusses her encounter with a first year teacher, Katy. Katy states "I haven't really been able to do the kinds of things I learned about in school. There's so much other stuff I have to do that I never really have time to do the things I want to do."

Uhhmmm... *PRAISE*
Last year was my first year teaching and man oh man do I understand her. I learned so many strategies, activities, and lessons in school. However, once I stepped foot inside the classroom, I realized it wasn't all that picture perfect. There should really be an education course titled "The Reality of Being in a Classroom". My first year of teaching was tough. Without the support of administration and waaayy too many textbooks and resources, it was overwhelming. As I began getting to know my students, I realized what worked and didn't work for them. I began setting up an environment that would foster their learning. 

In this chapter, Debbie highlights authentic environments. A quiet, well-behaved group of students starring at the teacher as she teaches would be something we would find in a magazine. (Sort of like the model home she discusses) Nonetheless, there's no passion, engagement, or authenticity in that scenario. Freedom and choice are the key factors of learning and engagement. Children should feel comfortable in a classroom that is organized and well put together. Routines should be modeled and remodeled until students become experts in understanding how to work cooperatively and how to embrace classroom freedom. 


This was one of the questions Debbie asked the reader to reflect on. Prior to reading this book, I really thought my classroom had everything it needed. I've always seen meeting areas in Kindergarten classrooms. It didn't hit me until right now that I don't have a meeting area for my whole class to meet at! My classroom is pretty small and I don't have much room for a meeting area or a small group instruction area. My small group instruction usually takes place in one of the group clusters while the other students work at other centers. I think I will be purchasing a large rug to place in front of our Promethean board and turn that into our 'Meeting Area". Additionally, I might just do the craziest thing and get rid of my teacher desk. I never sit there anyways and it's taking up so much space! This might be replaced with a kidney table which will be our new small group instruction area. :)

Our library is one of the most important areas in our room. Students engage in collaborative reading or use the rug area to meet for group activities. 

Sure, there's many areas and things i'd LOVE to have in my classroom. But, i've faced reality and realized I have to work with the space i've been given.

I'm BACKKKK! Crazy to think it's been almost a year since i've blogged. New school, new grade, and finishing up my Reading masters had me going a bit....

Unfortunately, I was not only MIA from blogging, but also from the TPT world. 
Anyways! I'm back and thrilled about having time to create, plan, and organize. I decided to join in on an exciting challenge brought by some of my favorites, including Peppy Zesty Teacherista.
Lord knows I need all the help I can take, haha. 
At first I was a bit embarrassed by my stats after seeing all of these amazing creators with TPT stats in the thousands.... uhhh.. #disapointment 
But then I realized... well isn't this the point of the challenge?! I got this! I'll be working on making over some of my older products this week. Stay tuned. ;)

No serious crafting this week but I did create these motivational posters for the classroom. These can be printed on card stock, laminated, or framed. (I'm really digging the chalkboard style... maybe my upcoming classroom theme?)
